Butt Rock Music Fest, now with more Gin Blossoms!

The Beale Street Music Fest lineup is trickling in, and its offerings are woefully bad. And by that, I merely mean that there’s no one I’d be interested in seeing, but I have bad taste in music, so don’t take my word as gospel.

Friday, May 5: B.B. King, Train, Puddle of Mudd, Zac Brown Band, Marty Casey & Love Hammers, Augustine, Big Star, Billy Gibson, Bryan Adams, Duwayne Burnside, Jason Mraz, Robert Randolph & The Family Band, Rod Piazza & The Mighty Flyers, Ronnie Baker Brooks, Three 6 Mafia

Saturday, May 6: Cake, Huey Lewis & the News, George Clinton & Parliament/Funkadelic, Jerry Lee Lewis, Little Richard, Al Kapone, Bar-Kays, Big Jack Johnson, Eric Sardinas, Bruce Hornsby, HoneyTribe featuring Devon Allmon, Three Days Grace, Romantics, Bo Diddley, Richard Johnston & Jesse Mae Hemphill, John Lee Hooker Jr., Gin Blossoms, Gomez, Yonder Mountain String Band, Lazy Lester, Malpais, Slightly Stoopid, NEEDTOBREATHE, Shemekia Copeland, The Bo-Keys, Dova Grove

Sunday, May 7: Staind, Blues Traveler, James Brown, Ann Rabson, Billy Lee Riley, Booker T. & The MGs, Hubert Sumlin & G.E. Smith, Chicago, Yellowcard, Shinedown, Trapt, Gov’t Mule, Galactic, 10 Years, Eisley, Janiva Magness Band, Johnny Winter, Malpais, Paul Thorn, Robert Belfour, Saffire & The Uppity Blues Women

Seriously, Puddle of Mudd AND Staind? Jesus. We just need Kid Rock to complete the Trifecta of Butt Rock Suck, but he played FedExForum Saturday night.

I’ll just save my $50 (I have to work two out of three days anyway) and let my co-worker Mark do the snarking — the polite snarking! — on this one.

  1. You missed the best act of them all: Huey Lewis AND the News! I loved that band so much as a kid, I named a cat after them.

  2. I named my beta fish after Huey Lewis. You also have Yonder Mountain String Band, Robert Randolph, Three 6 … what are you complaining about again? Oh yeah – EVERYONE ELSE.

  3. I was sad to hear that Bo Diddley died. That guy had an amazing career and life. And I just loved his guitar, the Twang Machine. It looked so cool and unusual for a guitar! He sure could make is sing.
