‘I want to get inside you … and die’

Happy Monday, you magnificent suckers. You’re probably reading this while I’m fast asleep (it’s my Sunday morning — BOOYAKASHA) because I have set this post to, uh, post automatically at 8:15 a.m. Actually, I had my garçon’s intern set it to post, but just because he was all, “You never let me do anything fun!” Sheesus. Anyway, I heard this song for the first time in a long time yesterday (HAHAHAH, today, really) and remembered…

World’s most pointless nitpick

I saw Monsters vs. Aliens tonight, because I am a sucker for overpriced kids’ movies in 3-D. And while, like Watchmen, it was gorgeous to behold but had a stupid, not very engaging story (*ducks to avoid nerd pummeling*), there was one snippet of dialogue that immediately lodged into my brain like a verbal splinter. There’s this giant lady monster, see, and she’s being introduced to her new monster home, tended by a wacky military…

I was rooting for blue thanks to an opportunistic combination of civic pride and knowledge that a successful U of M organization is good for my workplace’s vitality. One of these days, if I’m in Memphis long enough, I’m betting I’ll start rooting for Memphis with sincere gusto. Maybe next year? [Project 365]

Won’t you be my beta tester?

Dearest Neighbors: Kerry Crawford and I are trying our hand at a little ol’ fashioned blog aggregation for The CA over at The Memphis Blog. The blog is still under construction (the design and functionality is going to change within the next few weeks; right now it’s hard to distinguish between my and Kerry’s posts, there’s a jump link even when it’s not needed, the RSS feed is janky, and eventually we’re going to have…

Day 83: Escape

Programming Note: This week I’m challenging myself to shoot only with my fixed 50mm lens, since I rarely ever use it. Let’s see how long that lasts! March is racing past us at a clip I’m uncomfortable with, and 2009 so far has kicked my ass in ways both good and bad. Last year was complete and all-encompassing madness from March until June, and it seems like that’s going to be the case again this…
