Growing up I thought adulthood would be one comfy coast to enlightment and oldness. But I am learning, time and time again, that adulthood is a knotted string of complications and impossible decisions and long periods of consternation — the kind where you can’t keep your face out of your hands and your heart beats faster and faster even though you’re not moving.
