Day 256: Latin Kings

We had a potluck for which we cooked foods that generally fly south of the border. It was magnificent. I made Cuban picadillo, which wasn’t terrible (yay!), although next time I’ll need to figure out a better way to serve it (mix it with rice or offer bread or something). [Project 365]

Day 202: Sushi

The ever-enterprising Erica set up a little ladies-who-lunch event up at Sekisui with her and me and Amie and Emily. Meeting Amie (finally, after years of online acquaintance) and seeing Erica and Emily again was awesome. And you guys? I ate eel and liked it. And raw tuna! Day 176: Free Food!

The CA won the TPA’s honor of best newspaper in the state (general excellence or something is what they call it). Plus we got an award for awesome make-up and appearance, which is loverly since that’s what I do for a living. So we celebrated with free food today. Yeee-haw! Congrats to all the awesome people I work with. And yes, this is two work-related pictures in two days. I’m a career gal; what can…

Day 168: Fruit Pops Are the New Morning Coffee

Please ignore that skanky-looking nerve-bitten thumb, which is most certainly NOT MINE. Anyway, never underestimate the ability of a fruit pop to wake your sleepy ass up. [Project 365]

Day 166: Monday Margaritas

Kristin mercifully had Monday off work so we were able to kick it low-stress style at The Local Taco, where we split a pitcher of margaritas as the sky spit rain at us periodically. It was nasty and humid and lovely and tasty. I wish I hadn’t had to rush back to Memphis so soon, but I’m noticing more and more that my life these days is an ongoing string of sorry-to-run-but-I-have-to-be-here-at-this-time proclamations. I don’t…
