A time for silence*

Science-fiction writer Octavia Butler has died. Butler, 58, died after falling and striking her head Friday on a walkway outside her home in Lake Forest Park. The reclusive writer, who moved to Seattle in 1999 from her native Southern California, was a giant in stature (she was 6 feet tall by age 15) and in accomplishment. What a horrible and unfitting end to her life. I’ve only read Dawn, but I’ve wanted to read Kindred…

How I love to watch those pretty teens die

Phil got a couple of free movie passes from work and decided last night that he’d like to redeem them by seeing Final Destination 3 instead of Capote, which I was rooting for. The American Civil Liberties Union filed suit last year to block the constitutional referendum on technical grounds: the state legislature did not publish the proposed amendment six months prior to the 2004…

A virtual tour

So, as I promised weeks and weeks ago, here are photos of the new apartment. I’m still not entirely unpacked. I don’t know if I ever will be. These photos are all pretty blurry and crappy. Just pretend you’re looking at an ad on Craigslist or something. My teeny tiny kitchen. There’s a back door there by the sink. To the left of the door is the fridge. Some day this might be a breakfast…
