Well well well, this year’s march of the undead featured a wedding, a zombified newsman, and tons of children. Always something keeping it fresh.
I think the route was a little long and complicated. Noted.
I was so happy to have friends come out to support it and get all goried up. (Amanda and Brandon made pretty hilarious zombies.) Kristin came all the way from Nashville and helped wrangle zombies while I ran around taking pictures. My cold little heart was warmed by the turnout, even if it did seem like there were a lot more people saying “What is this foooor?” this year.
Of course none of this would be possible without the other organizers (big ups to Patrick, Duane, Christin and Frank) and Jamieslan, our illustrator du jour. And, of course, the nameless people I always dupe into doing makeup for me. You guys are awesome.
An added bonus: I got to meet some internet pals in meatspace for the first time.
Too cool. Okay, there’s really nothing I can say about it that couldn’t be better expressed through photos.
And no Beale Street gathering would be complete without a little dancing:
Dance, zombies dance! from Lindsey Turner on Vimeo.
April 30 update: Also, I missed Dr. Harold Toboggans’ impassioned plea to bring the undead back to the side of reason, as evidenced in this video. This has cracked me up so, so much:
I tried to look at all of your pictures, but I have to admit they were kind of grossing me out. Maybe it’s because I was trying to eat breakfast at the same time? I don’t get the zombies but I think they’re more interesting than pirates, at least.
Also: What is the meatspace? I mean, I could guess, but I have a feeling it’s not as sexy as I’m assuming.
Ahhh, meatspace. Real life! (As opposed to cyberspace.)
Sorry the pics grossed you out. However, that means that everyone did a really good job. :)
