I took the day off for Cooper-Young Festival so that I could help Planned Parenthood sign people up for e-mail alerts regarding state legislative action on reproductive rights. Lord almighty, I am terrible at working crowds. By some miracle, I signed up seven people. I got rejected by lots more than that. But still. I’m glad I did it. There are a lot of scary things coming down the pike soon, and Tennesseans who value their right to make their own reproductive choices should pay attention and speak up. Sign up for e-mail alerts here if that piques your interest.
After my volunteer shift, I got to meander around the festival and see River City Tanlines, who are so incredibly badass. (Have a listen here: 02 In My Mode Rollin’.) Then it was on to Toby and Ansley’s new house to warm it a bit. I finished the evening at Brandon and Amanda’s, sipping summer brew and getting soooo sleepy (I’d gotten up at 7:45 that morning WHICH IS AN UNREASONABLY CRUEL HOUR). Long day. Did and saw a ton of awesome shit. Got genuinely exhausted by the end of it. I love Midtown.
