He actually said that he is responsible for the muck-ups, and \u2014 at least during the portion I heard at work \u2014 there were no hilarious Bushisms or syntactical errors for cynical lowlifes (such as myself) to get all fluttery about. The speech was subdued, serious, and bereft of the cocky posturing that has defined Bush&#8217;s entire political existence up until this moment. <\/p>\n<p>I am not qualified to say whether his commitment of 20,000 more troops is a good call; all I know is that whatever is happening now is not working and, while Democrats may protest and say, &#8220;Well, this is just unacceptable,&#8221; I&#8217;ve not heard any substantial plans coming from them that will help solve the current conflict. <\/p>\n<p>I don&#8217;t know if the president&#8217;s &#8220;troop surge&#8221; is the right thing to do. I just know that the Dems \u2014 who I find myself sympathizing with more often than not \u2014 need to STFU unless they&#8217;ve got some grand ideas to add to the suggestion box.
