And then Amber and Patrick are coming over to cool her nerves before tomorrow, when she’ll step across a temporary platform and receive a piece of paper that represents four years of turmoil and cranial wrinkling. Part of me is jealous and another part of me doesn’t envy her at all. All of me will have to go through it this time next year.

Well, it’s time for the Friday Five. And after you’re done with that, why don’t you check out Photoshop Phriday over at Something Awful?

1. Do you enjoy the cold weather and snow for the holidays?

I love cold weather so much. We don’t get much snow in the belly of the South, though. But I’m sure I’d get sick of it if I had to deal with it every day.

2. What is your ideal holiday celebration? How, where, with whom would you celebrate to make things perfect?

Holidays were perfect in my youth. At least I perceived them as perfect. So I imagine my ideal holiday fun time as being the same as it was when I was young and naive, when my family wasn’t full of holes and conversations weren’t always political or racy. The one tradition I can’t bear to break is Christmas eve at my grandmaw’s house. We have a ton of food and we open presents and act a fool all night. I love it when Phil gets to celebrate with me, but his family always has their own xmas even shindig, so we’re often apart during the holidays. Which sucks.

3. Do you do have any holiday traditions?

Well, that one I just told you about. And my brother and I open a gift apiece from our parents on xmas eve. Then we get up and do it again the next morning. We also have to have a mini-party for me on xmas day because it’s my birthday.

4. Do you do anything to help the needy?

No. I guess I should, though. Man, I am self-centered, aren’t I? Wait — I always donate money for an Angel Tree kid! But that’s all …

5. What one gift would you like for yourself?

A Mac G-5. With all the fixins. Please Santa, that’s all I freaking want this year. Throw me a bone.

God, what an amazing day. The weather is crunk, I tell you.
