At my last midwife visit, I asked for the list of birth supplies I knew I’d need from obsessively reading homebirth threads on the internet. And oh boy, did she deliver a whopper of a list. It’s going to be fun checking these items off and bagging them up to place in the corner of the bedroom to wait for their big day. <\/p>\n
Bag No. 1 — bedding<\/b>

\n2 fitted sheets (at least one light in color)
\npillowcases<\/p>\n
Bag No. 2 — delivery<\/b>
\n4 towels
\n2 receiving blankets
\n8-10 washcloths<\/p>\n

\n1 baby hat
\n1 baby undershirt with snaps

\na nursing gown or pajamas (for mom) appropriate for nursing

\n1 medium or large bowl<\/s> (for the placenta)

\n2 packages of underpads, sometimes called Chux
\n1 roll of paper towels
\n1 box of Kleenex
\nhydrogen peroxide
\nrubbing alcohol
\nwitch hazel (for perineal cleansing)
\nsmall bottle of olive oil (perineal compress)
\nArnica remedy (30c)
\ndigital thermometer<\/s>
