I got out last night and met some pajama mafia members<\/a> at a shindig organized by Serrabee<\/a>, who has kindly posted a list of the attendees<\/a> and a quote by yours truly that tells you, really, everything you need to know about me. <\/p>\n

I spent most of my time there talking to SB<\/a> and ML<\/a>, mostly about random observations and pop culture and stuff. I’d had three drinks, so I’m 82 percent sure I said some stupid, stupid things (besides the communicable diseases thing, which I said stone-cold sober). <\/p>\n

There was a point in the conversation where the topic turned to crime and how to get Memphis out of its perpetual struggle with violence. I agreed with John Harvey<\/a> when he said that you’ve got to work on enforcing the laws about small stuff \u2014 even petty stuff \u2014 and the big stuff will start to scale back. I semi-sloshedly suggested that they should crack down on the idiots who just stroll across the middle of Union and Poplar at all hours \u2014 I called it “jaywalking” \u2014 and Mr. Harvey told me I had the wrong definition of jaywalking, since it really only applies to downtown\/urban streets, and therefore there’s no law against idiots wandering across six lanes of traffic. So, I guess I’ll just live with nearly killing people with my car at least once or twice a week. But as long as it’s legal…<\/p>\n

So to everyone I met, it was nice to meet you, even if I didn’t introduce myself. I’m kinda shy like that. Sorry. <\/p>\n

Anyway, I’d like to write more, but I’m kinda pushing for time, as Brandon<\/a> is on his way to pick me up. We’re going shutterbugging \u2014 which is only slightly less fun than jitterbugging, from what my grandmother tells me \u2014 and lunching, I hope, as I am getting hungry. <\/p>\n

And I haven’t even mentioned Ashley’s birthday Saturday night\/Sunday morning (there a are a few pictures here<\/a>) or the fact that we’ve got another designer coming in to interview tonight and I’ve halfway decided to take her to Stella<\/a>, although I’m wrestling a little with sticker shock, but I guess I shouldn’t care because it’s company money and we’re wining and dining, right?<\/p>\n
