Imperial Lanes

Y’all know there’s a 24-hour bowling alley in town, right? Just checking. Because this is what it looks like at 1 a.m. on a Sunday. Empty. I dunno. Just seems a little weird is all. Maybe it’s the lack of a bar. But enterprising folks could just sit out in the car and pass a bottle of champagne around before going inside, were the lack of a bar to seem intimidating. Just saying. Or maybe…

Here’s a big ol’ sack of stupid for you

Dude goes to Shelby County Election Commission office Friday to register to vote. They turn him away (rudely, he says) because they are out of forms. And yet, there are forms on their website. Here. The deadline to register to vote here is, of course, Monday. So time is of the essence. Am I to believe that the Shelby County Election Commission does not have internet access? Or a printer? What. birthdays the family

Happy birthday, sis

Monday-afternoon abortion musing

Lately there have been people at the corner of Union and … Claybrook? I can’t remember … around the clock, holding anti-abortion signs. (The only one I recall being able to read said, “Pray to End Abortion.”) I’ve seen an eclectic group of folks holding those signs. Saturday at nearly midnight, I saw a group of young white men in collared shirts holding the signs. My blood pressure, predictably, spiked. Abortion’s been on my mind…

the internet is fun

I surf the web so you don’t have to

Listen, kids. I spend an unholy amount of time skimming the web for interesting shit. Every day, I spacebar my way through hundreds upon hundreds of news stories/blog posts in my Google reader. And every now and then I find something that piques my interest. And I toggle on the “share” thingamajigger and it magically shows up here. It also shows up in the sidebar to the right, but that thing will only show ten…
