Memphis Midtown weather

Snowtography*

So, I said I was ready for spring. And I am. But this snow … it’s awesome. I don’t want it to melt. In fact, I’m afraid to go to sleep because when I wake up tomorrow it might be gone. And then we’ll go back to the same bony black trees and dead grass and, gah, if it can’t be white then why can’t it be green already? [More photos here.] *I’m stealing Chris…

This is not parody

Holy hell. I just had a chance to watch the Bush-endorsing-McCain press conference. Some thoughts: • McCain looks embarrassed, like he’s had to bring his father to Show and Tell and dad’s been slamming wine coolers and won’t shut up and keeps talking over him and saying what a great kid he is now that he doesn’t wet the bed or eat his boogers anymore. • Watch at 8:49 and see if you hear him…

Memphis news

No words

What a surreal week it’s been. Monday night I was hanging out with Ashley and Luke, watching Wheel of Fortune, when the news kept busting in to tell us of a mass killing that had happened on Lester Street — four adults and two kids were dead in a single house, and three kids were in critical condition at Le Bonheur. Hang in there, Patrick Swayze

Supposedly Patrick Swayze is on the verge of dying of pancreatic cancer. :( When most people think of Patrick Swayze, they think of him possessing Whoopi Goldberg, or maybe doing pelvic thrusts alongside Chris Farley. Circuit City, feel free to die in a fire

I needed a simple point-and-shoot that takes decent video. I found a Nikon Coolpix at Circuit City for $100. They didn’t have any stocked, so the salesman told me I could get the display camera for a discounted price ($70). I looked it over and it was in good shape, so I said sure. Salesman told me he’d go get the box with all my accessories and I could be on my merry way. I…

I'm posting about my damn cats again

My cats can be unusually cruel

I settled in last night for an evening of getting acquainted with 30 Rock and/or Lost, both of which arrived yesterday in their little red Netflix envelopes. People have been raving to me about both these shows and I’ve never seen either. I had a bottle of wine and the whole evening alone, so it was time to get some serious TV-watching done. So I pop 30 Rock in my PS2 (my only means of…

Fifty-three

There is nothing in this photo that could have existed outside the vacuum that was the mid-’80s. That man on the right, the Turner patriarch, has a birthday today. I’m two hours away and can’t be there to give him hastily acquired gifts that he probably already owns, but I’m sure sending him good birthday vibes until I can get to Saltillo to give him a hug next weekend.
