Right now, before the great sweltering of 2010 sets in, there is nothing finer than sitting out in my back yard with the torches going, just listening to the frogs and the FedEx planes and the trains and the wind — one big quasi-urban symphony pulsing with life at all times.
Nothing finer.
INSTAMATIC UPDATE! Yes, I need to mow. In the past week, my yard has gone from charmingly unkempt to HONEY, I SHRUNK THE HOMEOWNER. But I’ve been equipment challenged here lately, but my dear ol’ dad told me on the phone yesterday that he’s found a $75 pushmower for me (which is kind of interesting since a few weeks ago I dreamed that I found a pushmower for $45). I about hit the floor when he told me it comes with a bag for clippings. It’s the small things in life, truly.
Pfft, why have to wrangle with the bag of clippings? You can swap out the blade for one that mulches so you don’t have anything to clean up. Saves tons of time and sweat for under $20. Good luck on the yard work! ;)
You, lady, have a kickass yard. There is truly nothing like torch light.
@Coco
Woman, you speak with wisdom of a longtime yard-owner. Turns out the mower I got does not have a bag, so I think we are good.
@Tamara
Thanks! I sure wish you and T could come and sit for a spell with me in the torch light.
