Day 83/365: DeJaVu
So, so good. Damn. [Project 365]
Our formula: A comedy and a noir drama. [Project 365]
I took a stroll around the area just south of my ‘hood to see what I could see. Crossed the tracks and noodled around in the area by that New Olivet Baptist Church-tagged building that is not the actual church. Spent a little too much time trying to decide if “Are you living holy?” would be improved by being phrased, “Are you living holily?” I don’t get out much. [Project 365]
The one day I leave my camera at home, I stumble across this. [Project 365]
Oh, Midtown. This is why I love you. [Project 365]
As are we all. In the good way, of course. Aisles and aisles of fresh produce at sane prices. Huge fish. Animal organs. Giant bags of rice. So much hot sauce to choose from. PiƱatas! [Project 365]
They pulled out all the stops when they heard I was finally joining the Brooks. [Project 365]
And now begins the portion of the year where I spend a good deal of time 1) hoping a tree or large parts of a tree don’t fall on my house 2) in the basement at work, fidgeting as a siren blasts in my ear and deadline nears 3) pretending that either of those things are anywhere near as terrifying as the prospect of an actual tornado coming across that river and fucking things up.…
And a whoooole lot of it. It took me three or four tries in my adult life to get on the sushi bandwagon fully. This was the first time I actually understood. Yum. Still can’t use chopsticks for shit, though. [Project 365]
True, Memphis is notorious for bad/oblivious drivers. But there is nothing quite as sublime some days as a drive around the city on a warm Sunday afternoon beneath a wide blue sky. So I made a little love note. 2 Minute Movie: Driving in Memphis from Lindsey Turner on Vimeo. And yes I stayed between the lines. Crossposted at my work blog.
