Day 325 — Peanut

Last time I’ll call him “Peanut,” I swear! What a sweet baby. So pretty. And I don’t say that flippantly; some babies are rather unfortunate looking. But little Lucas — weighing in at a robust 8 pounds, 11 ounces — is a looker. Even when he’s blowing spit bubbles. I’m so happy for Ashley and JD. They are going to make seriously great parents. Mazel tov! Project 365

Day 324 — Squares

[for Tuesday, Nov. 20] Just got back from the grocery. Picked up lots of salad ingredients and fruit and cheese (note: nothing cookable) to take to the parents’ Thursday. Sometimes I wonder if my mother feels like a failure for raising a daughter who can’t cook for shit. Well, she shouldn’t. That’s all on me. I hope my mom will be okay. She’s been fighting a stomach virus of some sort for four days now.…

Day 323 — Grizzlies

[for Monday, Nov. 19] It only took me three years, but I finally made it to a Grizzlies game tonight. We bought the $5 nosebleed tickets (next cheapest were $18 apiece … um, as if) and threw a grappling hook over a beam and climbed our way all the way to the top of the Forum. Even the crappy seats aren’t all that bad, though. The Forum isn’t that huge. And yet, they can’t fill…

Day 322 — Smoking

[for Sunday, Nov. 18] My pitiful little point-and-shoot can no longer focus in any situation that offers less than supernova-strength light. I wonder how long it will continue to even function at all. Project 365

When I grow up I want to be a book designer

Check out some of these 2007 book cover designs. I particularly love The Worst Years of Your Life and Small Crimes in an Age of Abundance. I swear I would read all the books on this list based on their covers alone.

Day 320 — Collar

[for Friday, Nov. 16] Ooooh, Nov. 16 almost went down in infamy as the day I blew Project 365! My little digital camera followed me around today with no memory card. Oops. Luckily I was armed with the craphone and no sense of artistic decency, so here ya go. A collar. Does it make it more interesting to know that the collared shirt was at one time my grandfather’s? Day 319 — On The Road

Going to Nashville and back in less than 24 hours is tedious business. Especially in heavy rain, which kept falling and falling yesterday once I hit Middle Tennessee. I became envious of all the assholes who plowed ahead in the grey wetness at 70 mph while my little shitmobile felt much safer and much more stable cruising at 50. (I have a serious, serious fear of hydroplaning.) Of course, my envy subsided when I passed…

Day 318 — Canceled

[for Wednesday, Nov. 14] Well, I suppose it was bound to happen at some point: My first canceled concert. Too bad it came as a result of my beloved Regina Spektor collapsing during sound check. The representative who broke the news to the audience said that she wanted to perform, but the doctors wouldn’t let her. So we were sent on our merry way. The whole night wasn’t a bust, of course, since I got…
