Day 41: Spinster Survival Kit
The bare essentials, but sometimes when I’m feeling decadent, I get cheese to go on that there bread. [Project 365]

Recuperation complete. I packed a lot of awesome into one little day. Slept nine glorious hours, went to the gym and got the endorphins pumping, took my lunch to the park down by the river and read The White Tiger on a blanket while the wind whipped the world into a subdued frenzy around me. Then I had some chips and white cheese dip and some margaritas, went home to book chat, and then hauled…
OBLIGATORY GRATUITOUS-CUTENESS-AND-OBNOXIOUS-CAT-LADY-BEHAVIOR ALERT! You’ve been warned. This is what I do on my off days from Lindsey Turner on Vimeo.
I feel like I’ve been living out of a suitcase for a month. I’m glad to be home and I’m glad that the first thing I did when I got to Memphis was take a shower and then go eat some crazy-ass food (ox tail soup and some technicolor potatoes and some other things I forgot how to describe) with my crazy-ass friends, and watch Psycho Killers in Love. Or at least I think that’s…
My brain is full of fun things, and I’m ready to go home. [Project 365]
So I slept an hour last night and got up at 6:30 this morning. I can guarantee I won’t make that mistake again tonight; I am already crashing big time and I’ve taken NyQuil to make sure I don’t wake up for eight hours. If that doesn’t work then I am going to be in a lot of trouble tomorrow. It would probably involve a lot of car crying. This morning I made it to…
Best mark yer calendar, boys and girls. And spread the word. More flyers to come. Art, as always, by the awesome Jamieslan.
I’m in Durham, N.C., at a Comfort Inn near I-40, decompressing before a weekend blitz of multimedia training at UNC — Chapel Hill. I’m pretty excited about it; whatever I learn I’ll be expected to bring back and spread among the designers at the newspaper. So I’m hoping it’ll be chock full of good stuff. I am so so so glad I went ahead and got that shot yesterday. I’ve felt more or less like…
I’m stubborn, but not stubborn enough to continue ignoring this mucus mutiny that is happening inside me. Usually I can let a sinus infection pass without interfering, but this one doesn’t seem to be going anywhere. Sunday I thought I was on the mend but then Monday I sat here and felt my throat grow swollen and sore, and then this morning I woke up and could barely turn my head because my lymph nodes…
I love The Cove on a slow Tuesday night. It’s not as smoky, not as loud, and you get much faster service (yes, I am eighty years old). And sometimes, with the right barkeep, you get much cheaper drinks. But then sometimes you go to The Cove at midnight and the staff runs you off at 1:30, even though 3 is last call and even though there are three of you buying off the menu…
