Ch-ch-changes

sayonara, t&g 2008

One of my fabulous birthday gifts this year was a mouse (a wireless Mighty Mouse to be precise), which means I can finally get back on a proper design horse rather than the rickety little pole-with-a-mop-on-top I’d been using as a horse since I got this laptop. I don’t know about y’all, but I can’t design for shit using a trackpad. I mean, it’ll do in a pinch, but I’m kind of a mouse girl. Is that unevolved? Meh.

I think I’ve promised several people I’d help them with their blog designs and now I can finally make good on that. Uh, eventually. When I get a spare moment. [Insert sheepish grin and comically shrugged shoulders here.]

So anyway, I’m still dinking with this template and I’m sure I will be until I get tired of it and pick a new one. Despite my admitted love of all things tacky and loud, I have toned down the colors quite a bit, in part because I’ll be resurrecting Project 365 in 2009 and I want the photos to pop against a subtle background. And also I want people to think I’m sophisticated for long enough to read until the first F-bomb.

  1. wow. love it. smoother, sleeker, streamlined, totally sexy. will you help design our website for the store someday? you are my hero.

also can just anybody do this “project 365” of which you speak, or is it reserved for just the super special internet people club that you seem to be in, miss important over here with the pictures and whatnot? oh wait google can probably tell me HAHAHA DISREGARD THAT I…well, you know the rest

  2. N, Godspeed, my friend. I hate/love redesigning.

D, Thanks! Of course I’ll help out with storestuff. Just say the word. And Project 365 is open to whoever wants to do it. I had so much fun last time.

    M, Thanks!

K, I would expect nothing less from you, young lady.

  3. I like it. Nice redesign. I hate the Mighty Mouse, though. Are you doing Project 365 in 2009. With mine so close to ending, I have to decide if I have another one in me.

  4. Ah, Elle Tee, you inspire me to blog again. But only if you’d design it. I adore the new look. It is very sleek and sexy, like Dave said. I look forward to seeing your Project 365 pictures against this elegant backdrop. I’ll be doing it with you this year. Perhaps I’ll actually complete it this time.

  5. I, Thanks! And yes indeed, I’ll be hopping back on that bandwagon in 2009. I’m trying to think of a twist, though. Something themed or beyond just the basic premise…

T, Thankee. I would certainly design a little something for you. And yay, glad you’re doing P365 again!

  6. Question: Did you use your own CSS or tweak some to get your flickr pics to show up large in the RH column there? Or is it a template? Sorry if I am asking for trade secrets… :)

  7. I went through the usual process of making a badge, and chose the midsize option instead of the thumbnail or square options. Then I think I chose the customizable CSS and might have dinked slightly with the width, but that was pretty much it!
